Turtle

How We Make Our Soap - Part 2
When the temperture of each pot is correct,
I carefully pour the melted shortening into the water and lye pot.

Then I spend a lot of time stirring.

As I stir, I watch the surface of the soap change consistency.
I've learned from experience when I should move on to the next step.
Basically, I keep stirring until it's almost as thick as a thin chicken gravy.
Then I add any herbs or grains called for in my recipe,
in this photo I was making sage soap.

After that I add the glycerin and any essential oil called for in my recipe.

Then I carefully pour the soap into my molds.
